Wool Care
We work extra hard on our gorgeous woollen products to ensure they stand the test of time, and with a little love and care, you’ll will enjoy them for many years to come. We recommend that you dry clean our products in order to keep them at their very best. Choose a dry-cleaning company that is a member of the UKFT and take time to discuss the type of material your blanket is made from so they can process it carefully for you. Some of our products will come with specific care labels but we have put together this handy little care guide to help you get the very best from all of your woollen garments and blankets should you chose to wash them at home
-
General CareWash wool less often. The good news is wool is self-regulating and doesn’t need washing as regularly as other synthetic fibres. Where there’s a spot – fix with a blot! - Try to spot-clean where possible by blotting with a damp cloth, clean neutral coloured. Always remember to read the care label carefully. For a quick freshen up there is nothing like fresh air. Pick a breezy day and gently drape your blanket over the washing line for 20 mins being careful not to leave in bright sunlight for prolonged periods.
-
StoringFold or roll rather than hang to prevent dropping and misshaping. Always store woollens in a cool, dry place, and not too tightly packed, to allow the fabric to breathe. Help ward off moths by storing knitwear with lavender or a cedar ball.

WashingIdeally if washing at home do so in a bath of cold water and always patch test if you are using a new detergent. Many of our products can be machine washed but this is not our preferred way. If you do chose to wash in a machine, be very careful to select a wool cycle and no hotter than 20°! Use a gentle, specialist wool laundry detergent and use it sparingly! Add the laundry detergent to the tray rather than the drum. Use a large mesh laundry bag to protect the garment from the drum. Do not overload the machine. Always remove from the machine as soon as the cycle finishes in order to avoid creasing.
-
DryingGently reshape the garment while wet to remove creases and folds. Let the garment dry flat. Allow the garment to air-dry. Never tumble dry!

TroubleshootingContrary to popular belief, pilling (or bobbling) is not due to poor quality. Bobbles appear after washing and are simply caused by friction from the washing process or abrasion from wear or rubbing. Almost all woollen products will bobble at some stage, but you can easily remove bobbles with a gentle knitwear comb.
